King Street Energy Gas Storage Scheme

King Street Energy Gas Storage Scheme planning application is refused

Denton Clark who are one of the lead agents negotiating terms with King Street Energy (KSE) over their proposed trans Cheshire twin pipeline and gas storage facility have been advised by NPL the parent company of KSE that a Planning Inquiry date announcement is imminent following the lodging of an appeal to the planning refusal on 9th December 2008.

Simon Towers of NPL stated that an announcement on the Inquiry date is expected by the end of January '09. Richard Williams of Denton Clark who is representing a substantial number of clients affected by the pipeline and gas storage scheme is in continual close contact with NPL to ensure clients are regularly informed of developments:- “The refusal by Cheshire County Council (CCC) seems contrary to present public policy which is to improve the UK’s present gas storage capacity which is currently limited to about 4% of average annual consumption, or 14 days' worth. The reasoning for the refusal are mainly environmental applying to the 52KM twin pipeline to be constructed to extract brine solution from the storage site at King Street to the proposed discharge point at Eastham Ferry on the Wirral. CCC is also concerned over the preservation of the Brine minerals resource at King Street. The scheme will give rise to an opportunity for land and property owners to raise capital without necessarily impinging on freehold values”; however he reiterated the need to secure professional advice preferably from surveyor with a track record in dealing with such schemes and  more importantly who has knowledge of the bigger picture.
