A Denton Clark Design and Build project at Brookside Farm, near Chester, has been named the Best Build in the North West, in the prestigious 2007 CLA Rural Building Awards, aimed at showcasing the very best new or converted rural buildings.
The award was presented at Brookside Farm in Pulford, to owner Richard Fair and Chris Stringer of Denton Clark, by CLA North Director, Douglas Chalmers on Friday, 1 February 2008.
The Brookside Farm development included the construction of a new, state of the art milking unit on the 283-hectare farm, enabling the owner to increase his dairy herd by more than 50% and turn his farm into a modern, efficient, profitable business.
Chris Stringer, Denton Clark said: “We are delighted to receive this award as it reflects the skill and commitment of everyone involved in the project. Our brief was to bring the farm up-to-date whilst retaining the character of the farm and its surroundings. It was an incredible project to work on as it involved all departments of Denton Clark from planning, to design and construction, including the sale of new homes, converted from old farm buildings.”
The CLA Rural Building Awards are sponsored by Knight Frank, and aim to capture and demonstrate what is good about the re-use of traditional buildings and the construction of new buildings in the countryside.
Douglas Chalmers, CLA North Director said: “As Judges we considered many factors, including the quality of the design and the workmanship. Brookside Farm impresses on both counts, and Richard Fair and the team at Denton Clark must be congratulated.
“We had many high quality entries and I am delighted that this winning project demonstrates real confidence and investment in milk production, a sector for which Cheshire has a long and well deserved reputation for excellence.”
