Denton Clark Assists in Construction of New Marina

A Cheshire farmer appointed Denton Clark, to transform his 100-acre dairy farm into a narrowboat marina in a major rural diversification project.

Opened in February 2009, the construction transformed Robert Parton’s Outlanes Farm in Church Minshull into the 147-berth, Aqueduct Marina on the Shropshire Union Canal.

This is an excellent example of rural regeneration bringing new jobs, new businesses and tourism combining agricultural equipment hire service, boat storage, marina, chandlery, cafe and bed and breakfast accomodation.

Denton Clark has been involved with the project from the early design and planning stage through to completion, working closely with the client, architect and members of the design and construction team.

The project was particularly challenging as United Utilities were involved in a major infrastructure project across the site at the time of construction.  Management of all aspects of this fascinating brown field project required the skills of both our building surveying and rural consultancy departments.

We have also prepared feasibility and viability studies, negotiated environmental licences, easements, access agreements and liaised closely with the British Waterways Authority.
